Online Introduction to Counselling & Psychotherapy

(Part 1)

The Online Introduction to Counselling & Psychotherapy is a great way to develop an understanding and appreciation of counselling and will appeal to those who are looking to discover the different theories and approaches to counselling & psychotherapy, to explore their own personal development and to develop basic counselling skills. This online counselling course is ideal for people who cannot commit to a classroom setting or who would like the flexibility of online study.

The course material is delivered online, through the PCI College Student Portal, and students are fully supported by the Course Tutor, with introductory videos, written course notes and contact through email and phone. This is an interactive course and materials are delivered through a combination of PowerPoint presentations, video demonstrations, course material, exercises and a recommended reading list. You will also have access to a comprehensive online library for further reading.

Blended Learning Upgrade

(Part 2)

Part 2 of the course involves students, who have completed the Online Introduction component (Part 1) of the course, attending 2-weekend workshops in our Dublin West venue. During the weekend workshops, interpersonal communication, personal development issues and the application of theory to practice are all well explored. The weekend workshops are facilitated by experienced lecturers (who are also practicing professional counsellors) who guide students to fully explore the basic theories, approaches and skills of counselling, working with other students in small group exercises. This programme is different from many home study counselling courses which do not include the essential, practical application of theory to practice. The classes are held at our Dublin West campus. Dates for these weekends in 2018 are scheduled as follows:

Next Weekend Workshops:
(these take place at PCI College, Corrig House, Old Naas Road, Clondalkin, Dublin 22)

Summer Weekends:

What our Students Say

“I am really enjoying the Distance Learning Certificate. I can study at home, when it suits me and I am learning so much about counselling. It is a great way for me to start my studies in this area. The material is easy to access and the support from the lecturers is a great help. I’m looking forward to the weekend workshops too, to put all the theory into practice”
