Writing an article for PCI College

Writing for PCI College

Calling all authors, writers, scribes and scholars! If you are a regular visitor to PCI College's website and social media pages, you will know that we aim to provide new and interesting articles on a regular basis.

Our lecturers and tutors write blog pieces, book reviews, course descriptions and opinion pieces and we are keen now to get you, our students and graduates, to contribute your thoughts.

We are inviting students and former students of PCI College from all programmes and course locations to contribute to our content, and to share your views and reviews with fellow students and other visitors to PCICollege.ie

If you are a keen writer, or if you'd like to try your hand at writing an article for the first time, here are some suggested ways that you can contribute:

  • Write an article about a theorist or counselling approach that you are interested in, and give your own views
  • Share your thoughts about a current mental health issue, or an area of mental health you have researched or have experience of
  • Write a piece about client work practice and describe some of the issues you have encountered in working with clients (respecting confidentiality)
  • Review a book related to mental health, personal development or psychology (fact or fiction) and submit it as a Bite-Sized Book Review
  • Write a profile of your time as a student with PCI College, whether you are a graduate or a current student, and outline your experiences and journey so far

If you are interested in contributing your story, article or review, please contact Declan, Lynn or Sinéad at enquiries@pcicollege.ie or 01-464 2268. We will be happy to talk through your ideas and to give you guidelines for your writing. We do have editorial policies on content, references etc. but we will not publish anything without prior agreement.  We are also happy to link anything we publish to your own website and to tag you in social media, so there is great potential to build your own profile.

Why not give it a go? It could be the start (or continuation!) of a wonderful writing career in mental health and the field of psychology.

What our Students Say

“The lecture was very clear and not rushed in explaining all questions that were asked. This workshop was very beneficial in taking the fear out of going into private practice”

What our Students Say

“I am really enjoying the Distance Learning Certificate. I can study at home, when it suits me and I am learning so much about counselling. It is a great way for me to start my studies in this area. The material is easy to access and the support from the lecturers is a great help. I’m looking forward to the weekend workshops too, to put all the theory into practice”
