Jade is a chartered Counselling Psychologist with the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) and is an accredited member of the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP). Jade is the Academic Director in PCI College, overseeing and delivering the training of Counselling & Psychotherapy programmes from Certificate up to Master’s level. Jade is a Counsellor/Therapist within the HSE Counselling in Primary Care team and consults as a member of a Clinical Team within a residential care setting.
Jade is currently serving a third term as an executive board member of the IACP where she is the Chair of the Finance and Risk Management Committee and holds the role of Treasurer. Jade has a strong passion and interest in counselling and psychotherapy pedagogy which is evident through her work in PCI College.

Jean is an accredited member of both the Irish Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (IACP) and the International Society for Schema Therapy (ISST). She runs a busy private practice from Celbridge Wellness in Co. Kildare. Her work today is mainly as a Schema Therapist (having completed her training in 2013) dealing with more chronic longer-term problems associated with conditions such as Borderline Personality disorder and emotional instability. She is one of the founding members of the Schema Therapy Association of Ireland (STAI) and is an active Committee Member working to promote and enhance the practice of Schema Therapy in Ireland. She is involved in both supervising and training Schema Therapy in Ireland, having presented the model to the Counselling Doctoral students in Trinity College and at the University of Ulster in Derry (Magee College). Jean has also undertaken the accredited training as a Schema Couples therapist in New York in 2019 and is working towards certified standard. This allows her to incorporate the Schema model concepts into relationship work.
She is also a core tutor and part-time lecturer for PCI College on both their BSc Programme and their Professional Certificate Programme and presents many of their CPD workshop days, specifically the Introduction to Schema Therapy, CBT for Weight Management and Emotional Intelligence and has delivered mental health awareness training to senior management and staff at Iarnród Éireann (Irish Rail), the Irish Wheelchair Association and the Midlands branch of the Irish Guidance Counsellors, among others.
As well as her post-graduate training in Schema Therapy and in CBT she is also specifically trained to work in the area of sexual addiction and compulsivity; and to provide therapeutic support via an online medium, having completed the recognised training via the BACP / Online Training Institute UK. She is a certified FETAC trainer and holds a Diploma in Mindfulness and Wellbeing which she incorporates into her clinical practice.

Jena is a pre-accredited counsellor/psychotherapist having completed a Higher Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy and an MA in Psychotherapy. She has been working in a clinical capacity for the past three years and is currently progressing towards accreditation. She draws from an Integrative and Humanistic approach in her therapeutic work. In her role as Placement Strategy & Development Lead, Jena oversees the development and expansion of student placements across all programmes, including the PCI Counselling Service.
Jena establishes and maintains Quality Assurance best practices for placements, ensuring compliance with current and prospective regulatory standards for the counselling and psychotherapy profession.
Jena loves birdwatching, sea swimming and spending time in nature.

John is a psychologist and CBT practitioner specialising in anxiety disorders as well as OCD and related disorders. He has been in private practice since 2016 and works with both adults and children. In the past he worked in a training and education capacity in both Aware and Barnardos. As well as his clinical work he provides consultative training programmes to schools and community groups in the areas of Bullying (specifically Cyber-bullying), teacher training ( for school well-being), and Mental Health workshops. John is the Head of Year 1 of the Bsc Programme and the Programme Leader of the Online Cert in Psychology.

Judy is an accredited integrative Psychotherapist and Clinical Supervisor currently working in private practice and lecturing. With over ten years’ experience of working with people of all ages and life stages in a variety of group and individual settings, Judy feels that an integrative approach using psychoeducation is key in empowering people on their healing journey. Judy previously worked in Pieta House for a number of years as a Senior Psychotherapist. Her work there involved working with Children, Adolescents and Adults, involving initial assessment and follow up treatment. Aswell as lecturing with PCI College, Judy also lectures with the University of Limerick on a number of courses and she also runs personal development workshops and courses from her Holistic Health shop RaiseZen.

Karen is the Academic Administrator in PCI College since February 2022. She supports the academic department by driving Quality Assurance best practices through regular audit and review of policies and procedures in addition to daily administrative support. She works closely with the Academic Director and Head of Counselling and Psychotherapy supporting the administrative process on projects such as Programme Design, Validation, Revalidation and Review, and Accreditation. Karen also works with Student Services, Programmes Office, Marketing and Faculty on processes like Programme Interruption, Student Representative Program, Documentation, Project Tracking, Module Reviews and more.
Karen obtained a BA (HONS) in Media Production Management (BCFE/DCU), Diploma in Early Childhood Education, and has completed 2 years so far of a BA in Humanities – Psychology Major. She recently received a Professional Certificate in Project Management from Google.
Karen is obsessed with film, loves pottery, and music.

Karen Prendergast is an IAHIP and ICP accredited humanistic and integrative counsellor and psychotherapist. Following a degree in psychology, she gained a postgraduate diploma and masters in Psychotherapy. Karen works in a Limerick city community service where she works as a psychotherapist.
Having achieved a diploma in advanced supervision across professions, a holistic and integrative approach, Karen also works as a clinical supervisor. Karen has her own private practice since 2018. She works predominantly with adults, couples, and groups.
She is an experienced English and German language teacher and gained valuable skill with the ISPCC as a Childline volunteer, team mentor and supervisor and with Aware as a support group facilitator. She currently provides group facilitation for West Limerick Resources and is a guest speaker, group, and course facilitator for the Migraine Association of Ireland.
Karen’s areas of interest include Post-Traumatic Stress disorder, Living with Chronic physical illness (CPI), Complex developmental trauma and selective mutism, Self-harm, suicide, and bereavement by suicide, Health anxiety, Munchausen syndrome and Munchausen syndrome by proxy and Forensic psychotherapy.

Katherine runs a private psychotherapy practice for adolescents and adults in Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford. She has extensive training and professional experience working in the areas of sexual trauma and adolescent psychotherapy. In addition to this, Katherine has worked in education with adolescents within post primary settings for the past two decades. Katherine has joined the Assoiciate lecturing team academic year 2023-2024.

I have worked as a CBT in private practice in Cork for 11 years. I run a clinic with 8 therapists, “Smaointe CBT Mental Healthcare”, in Carrigaline, where I see clients presenting with a wide variety of complaints. These include such things as anxiety, depression, eating disorders, bipolar disorder, OCD, PTSD etc. Working with adults and adolescents, I have vast experience with employing CBT models to help clients achieve their goals. I also work as a Clinical Supervisor to all mental health professionals, an academic supervisor and a lecturer. Last year I completed my training in EMDR, acquiring a deeper understanding and skill set for working with more complex trauma. My passion truly is for continued learning in the field of behavioural psychology and neuroscience. I aim to continue learning and, where I can, impart that to others.

Louise is a qualified Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapist with specialised training in Suicidology. Louise has been working with PCI College for the past 11 years in various roles initially as the counselling service coordinator role. Louise is one of our Senior Lecturers on our Certificate in Counselling & Psychotherapy, mentoring new lecturers onto the programme for the past 11 years and preparing students for the BSc. Since 2018 Louise has been in the role of Clinical Manager across programmes at PCI College. Louise has been supporting students in all clinical practice-related aspects of their training as well as writing, implementing, and monitoring clinical policies and procedures for PCI College’s BSc and our three MSc programmes. In her non-professional life, Louise is passionate about diversity, specifically Cultural Diversity and Cultural Integration. Louise spends most of her free time learning, singing, and teaching traditional folk songs from the Republic of Georgia!

Margaret lectures first, second and third years on a range of topics including Humanistic theories, Cognitive Behavioural Therapies, and Counselling skills, as well as supervising thesis projects. As Programme Leader for the BSc, she oversees all elements of the course. Margaret has degrees in Social Science Counselling & Psychotherapy and a Master’s in Gender Studies. She has her own counselling practice and has extensive experience working in community development. Margaret also leads PCI Podcast “Therapists Talk Therapy”

Marie is an accredited Addiction Counsellor and Clinical Supervisor who has worked for the past 20 years as a Senior Counsellor in a HSE Addiction Service. Marie has extensive experience of both individual and group therapy as well as psychoeducational group work, using various evidence informed approaches and believing strongly in the importance of the relational aspects of therapy. Marie’s experience includes working in total abstinence programmes, harm reduction programmes, working with clients presenting with dual diagnosis, working with family members impacted by addiction and collaborative case management. She has also many years’ experience of managing a team of Addiction Counsellors.
Prior to entering the counselling field Marie trained and worked in both General and Psychiatric Nursing. Through her nursing work she developed an interest in working therapeutically in the field of addiction.

Marika Mikulak teaches on the Certificate programme. She initially trained as a psychotherapist in Cork and then completed her post-graduate psychotherapy studies at Metanoia Institute, London. She is an accredited member of the Irish Association of Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy (IAHIP). She has a private practice and she has also worked as an addiction counsellor, primarily in homeless services.

Martin holds a Diploma and BSc (Hons) Degree in Counselling & Psychotherapy from PCI College validated by Middlesex University. His post-graduate training includes a Cert in Relational Gestalt Therapy from Dublin Gestalt Centre and a Cert in Co-Creational psychotherapy with Dr Tony Humphreys (IARM). His continuing professional development includes Individual Gestalt Therapy and Gestalt Couples Therapy (GATLA) and further couples training in Emotion-Focused Therapy and the Gottman Method. Martin is a fully accredited member of the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP). He is currently undergoing training in Gestalt Supervision with the Dublin Gestalt Centre. In line with the ethical codes of this professional body, he completes further training each year and attends regular clinical supervision as well as his own personal therapy.

In addition to his training in humanistic and integrative psychotherapy, Martin has over fifteen years of experience in the field of mindfulness and personal development. He uses this training, knowledge and experience to facilitate and work with whatever a client may bring to a session. He endeavours to create a safe, supportive and confidential space for each person to explore their personal challenges at their own pace.

Mary has worked on the PCI Certificate programme, Blended Learning, CPD days for trainee counsellors and Personal Development workshops. Her special interests are in the Theorists, Counselling skills and in the use of creativity in therapy and learning.
She works in the area of student welfare and mental health. She is a teacher of QQI Humanities modules and a champion for the Student Assistance Programme and promotes information on consent workshops.
Mary is involved in supporting students/adults with specific learning difficulties or disabilities in further education. She is involved in promoting a ‘Minding Your Head’ campaign and has written guidance on ‘New Beginnings’ for students moving away to college. Above all Mary looks to inspire others to become their best selves.

Lecturer with PCI College for the past 15 years with a special interest in personal and professional development and am passionate about how important this is in the work of being a counsellor. Our own self-awareness is key to helping others.
Interests are reading, walking and listening to podcasts in the areas of mindfulness, breathing techniques and self-awareness.

Maureen has been working for PCI College for over a year now. Her background is in sales and reception, holding certification in but not limited to; psychology, reception skills, medical practise ethics and skills. She was receptionist/acting practice manager for a busy medical surgery before coming to PCI College. Maureen is the first point of contact for all of our external calls and navigates where the calls need to sent to within our many departments. She has been a great hit with both lecturers and students for her efficient and helpful manner on the phone. Reception at PCI is under our Student Services team. Part of the role is to be linked in with the department in their many tasks in making sure our students have what they need during their time with us as PCI.
